Benjamin Wilcox is a seasoned technocrat and an accomplished entrepreneur, with a wealth of experience spanning over forty years in finance, oil and gas, management and general business. He holds both a B.Sc. in Business Administration (Cum Laude) and an MBA in Finance from the University of Minnesota, U.S.A where he won the Exxon outstanding student award in Finance.
His professional experience and post-qualification training have been with international bodies such as the World Bank, where he trained in different departments such as Finance, Economics, Statistics, Energy and Project Management, with deployment across Asia and South America. After the World Bank, he worked with the Ford Motor Company, Exxon Mobil and subsequently, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
At NNPC, he worked directly with the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), from where he was seconded to the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in 1981, until he left to embark on entrepreneurial endevaours in 1986.
In his entrepreneurial feats, Sir Wilcox has consulted for the federal and state governments in Nigeria, working with ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) as well as state governments on strategy and IGR (Internally Generated Revenue) enhancement. He also worked with various private corporations within and outside Nigeria, with briefs on venture arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, portfolio management, project finance and management consultancy.
Wilcox, with his wealth of business experience, knowledge of enterprise management and keen view of corporate governance, is invaluable to the board of many corporations and has been appointed to the board of several businesses and institutions, including Coxdyn Nigeria Limited, Avanage Nigeria Limited (in partnership with GCC, China), Nigeria International Security Limited (NISL), CIT Microfinance Bank, Silvex Plc, Easy Shipping Plc (Johannesburg, South Africa), CIT Bureau De Change, Vego Oil Ltd, Owen Software Envision (Maryland, USA), Pilot Finance Limited. He is also on the board of institutions such as Federal University of Ndufu, Alike-Ikiro, Ebonyi State, Nigeria and Lekoil / Green Energy Community Board of Trustees, where he acts as Chairman.
Wilcox is a Member of the American Management Association, American Personnel Management Association and the Nigerian Financial Consultancy Association. He is a Knight of the Order of Saint Christopher and a Justice of Peace (JP)) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He has also been involved in a lead role on various PPP and public sector projects including power sector privatization, federal and state road concessions, and the establishment of industrial parks. He is an expert in corporate finance, business and financial advisory.
